Future Melonheads! We need you!

The U. S. Watermelon Speed Eating & Seed Spitting Championships Inc., will host the 50th Pardeeville Watermelon Festival on Saturday, September 9, 2017. The committee needs new ideas and fresh volunteers to host this festival and kick off the next fifty years of fun.

During the past decade, a small, but mighty, crew has transformed the festival into a family-friendly celebration including a full-fledged carnival midway, arts and crafts fair, and of course, the Watermelon Championship events.

To maintain the festival and continue improving it, we need more volunteers with new ideas to provide the children and family in our community, and state, with this spectacular event.

There is a place for everyone.

If you can help out even for a few hours during the festival cutting watermelons or selling concessions, we have a place for you.

Can you put up signs and posters around town a few weeks before the festival, we have a place for you.

If you are willing to head up our arts and crafts fair or help with a significant aspect of the festival, we would love to talk with you.

You won’t be alone.

Our leadership committee will be right alongside of you guiding you and helping you in whatever role you choose. It is time for some of our long-time melonhead volunteers to pass the torch to a new generation.

In the near future, we’ll be putting together a volunteer get-together so we can cultivate some ideas.

Some of the roles you could play include:

— Hay Dive organizer / volunteer

— Arts & Crafts Fair organizer / volunteer

— Publicity volunteer

— Officials for Championship Events

— Coloring Contest organizer / judge

— Silent Auction organizer / volunteer

— Concession organizer / volunteer

Bring your energy, ideas, and commitment to provide a world-class, family friendly festival and we’ll work together to make this the best festival ever!
